Black owned restaurants in South Florida

We love to see it! To support the movement and the community, on my trip back home I made it a mission to visit a few black owned restaurants. Check them out if you’re looking for something tasty while spreading the wealth. Not in Florida? I suggest googling black owned restaurants in your area to give your time and dimes to.

House of Mac

I think the photo speaks for itself. The cheesiest Mac & Cheese I’ve ever had from House of Mac. With two locations across South Florida, this restaurant has served celebrities such as Pitbull and Rick Ross and for good reason. Try the Chicken Parmesan Mac & Cheese for an explosion of mouth watery cheesy goodness.

Yum Creamery

Stumbled upon this ice cream shop around the corner from my childhood home and couldn’t have been happier to discover the only back owned hand rolled ice cream in Florida, according to the owners. They also serve açaí bowls and smoothies if you’re looking for more healthy vibes. Tip: flirt with the server for extra toppings.

Blue Mountain Coffee House

Back female owned coffee shop in the heart of downtown West Palm Beach, Blue Mountain Coffee House is the perfect spot for a pick me up. Boasting some of the best coffee in the world, this cute coffee shop also has great eats. Try the Jamaican patties for instance. Homemade and extremely good though if anyone were to ask if they’re better than Haitian patties, I would deny it all.

Le Griot

It’s not a trip to South Florida if you don’t indulge in some Haitian food. I was so excited for this plate I barely took the time to take a good photo of it. Perfectly seasoned and fried the griot from Le Griot certainly lives up to it’s name and don’t get me started on the sauce.
